The project is run by the NGO Centre “Women’s Perspectives” with the support of Open Society Foundation
“Woman for woman” is a platform launched by the NGO “Women’s Perspectives” aimed at helping women in crisis. We publish stories from their perspective since no one can tell her story better than the woman herself.
We are enhancing the voice of women in crisis so that their stories could reach those who are able to help.
To help a particular woman you can buy food for her, donate some money or order a service from her. To do this, leave a message for the project coordinator or use donate button. We do not publish women’s contact information on the website to protect their safety and privacy.
My home is under occupation in Melitopol — strangers are living there now. My daughter is currently in Georgia, where her husband has been abusing her ever since their baby girl was born. She cannot leave due to severe financial hardship. Her ex-husband died in the war, and now my grandchildren — 12 and 16 years old — are left alone in a stranger’s apartment in an unfamiliar city. I recently underwent a kidney transplant surgery and am still in the hospital.
I have endured a lot of violence, beatings, and abuse from my husband. He drank heavily, stopped going to work, and I had to take out a loan just to survive with my children. I managed to escape the abuser and filed for divorce and child support, but the court proceedings are still ongoing. Now I live with my 12-year-old daughter. My only source of income is a disability pension, and unfortunately, due to my health, I’m unable to work. The amount of debt is critical, and we are on the verge of poverty.
I’m from the Odesa region and I’m raising four underage children (ages 3, 7, 12, and 14) on my own. I suffer from severe neck pain, and recently my arms and legs have started hurting as well. I’ve been diagnosed with arthrosis and spinal hernias, and I need an MRI, but I can’t afford it. My children also get sick often, so I prioritize treating them first. It’s very difficult to find a job when you have four children, and the only financial support I receive is 2,100 UAH per month. We live in a small village in a rented house and survive thanks to our cow.
My fingers were broken, my eardrums damaged, and I had constant bruises, stress, and fear. All of this was caused by my own husband, who drank and beat both me and my son. He controlled me financially, while I did everything I could to support our family and even took out a large loan. I managed to escape. Now, I am raising two children on my own: my 13-year-old son and my 2-year-old daughter. My son has asthma and has started experiencing severe headaches—he needs medical treatment. On top of that, my loan debt keeps growing, and I feel completely helpless. I am in despair.
Christina is now 14 years old. At the age of 12, this girl experienced a terrible tragedy—the tragic loss of her mother and sister. Later, she suffered from the actions of her stepfather, who continued to live in her mother's house. The stepfather harassed the girl, corrupted her, and committed psychological and physical abuse. Until recently, this man even received financial assistance for her care. Now Christina is safe and under the guardianship of her brother.
Since my teenage years, due to family issues, I have had several suicide attempts and hospitalizations in a psychiatric clinic. Because of my mental health problems, I was fired from my previous job as an SMM specialist. I am now in significant debt. To survive, I started selling sex services for money, as I had no other way to make a living. This has severely affected my mental state. I have no relatives or friends who could help me. I am living below the poverty line.
